KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Considerable knowledge of state and local policies and procedures regarding the administration of security/school safety programs;
- Considerable knowledge of applicable laws and regulations;
- Considerable knowledge of the current literature, trends, methods and developments in the areas of security and school safety;
- Considerable knowledge of ethical guidelines applicable to the positions as outlined by professional organizations and/or federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations;
- General knowledge of the principles of supervision, organization and administration;
- Ability to act quickly, efficiently and calmly in stressful situations;
- Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make recommendations for improvement;
- Ability to maintain complete and accurate records and to develop meaningful reports from them;
- Ability to effectively express ideas orally and in writing;
- Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups and/or Boards;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field, preferred.
- Five years of experience in law enforcement, criminal justice, fire/EMT, and/or security preferred.
- Prefer certification in Risk Management, Security or Emergency Management, such as EMT, Fire, and/or DCJS training and certifications
